Flowcine xDROP – Drop-Down & Offset Male-to-Female Socket Block Adapter for Steadicam Vests

The Flowcine xDROP is a precision-engineered male-to-female socket block adapter designed to optimize arm-to-vest positioning for Steadicam operators. It enables a smoother, more ergonomic workflow by lowering the arm connection by 85mm (3.4″) and offsetting it sideways by 55mm (2.2″), creating extra clearance between the operator’s gimbal-controlling arm, the stabilizer arm, and the vest.

Whether you’re navigating tight spaces on set or operating during high-movement sequences, the xDROP provides enhanced freedom of motion, making it easier to maintain comfort, posture, and performance. It is compatible with all universal Steadicam-type vests and socket block arms, including systems from Tiffen®, GPI PRO™, and other industry-standard stabilizer brands.

xDROP “Plus” Version

For operators using vests like the GPI PRO vest with protruding waist buckles, the xDROP Plus offers an additional outward offset, providing even more clearance from the vest’s locking mechanisms. This eliminates interference and prevents the need for modifying your vest — an ideal solution for goofy-footed operators where traditional drop brackets hinder buckle access.

Greater Adjustability & Ease of Use

Unlike traditional static drop-down brackets, the Flowcine xDROP allows for extended tilt adjustment angles (up to ±16.5°) depending on your male socket block configuration. You can fine-tune the tilt directly from the female socket block side, offering enhanced control and balance over your entire Steadicam setup.

Additionally, the xDROP’s modular design means it can remain connected to either the stabilizer arm or the vest, allowing operators to mount and dismount both components together as a single unit or separately, depending on the preferred workflow. This is particularly advantageous for PRO vest users operating in a goofy orientation, as it avoids contact with the waist latch lock.

Technical Notes

• Compatible with all industry-standard Steadicam arms and vests with a universal socket block.

• For back mount usage, the orientation flips (i.e., regular becomes goofy and goofy becomes regular).

• For PRO vests or vests with external buckles, xDROP Plus is recommended.
